Notes on the Reinvention of Jaime
I went to bed by 1 a.m. last night, which is better than I’ve been doing lately, although I read for another half hour before actually going to sleep. My alarm was set for 10, and when it went off I turned it off and went back to sleep, so I got over eight hours. Which was nice.
It was Labor Day, and I had planned to work on Etsy without feeling guilty about it. Unfortunately, the guilt came up anyway, so I didn’t start.
I don’t know WHY I can’t seem to start things. It is really frustrating.
I did get an email from Etsy about current trends, and cozy book club things were one of the two things they mentioned, so I did some research. A prolific creator I follow also said in her email yesterday that it’s better to have five really good listings than a bunch of mediocre ones. I know that if I actually list things, I will get sales. Some things will be duds, but some things won’t.
So I did Etsy things today. Just not the actual creating-and-listing part.
And it is Day Seven, which means I am now seven listings behind on my goal of 30 this month. I think once I actually dive in, it will feel easier. I’m just rusty.
I did manage to clean the entryway rack at the bottom of the stairs, where we keep the umbrellas, sweaters, leashes, bags, hats, and other entryway paraphernalia. I didn’t clean the floor underneath it, but that, my Darling, is a separate project.
Other than that, I was pretty lazy. I read Penny Plain, had a little fire on the porch, and went for a back-and-forth walk on the street in front of my house.
I also packed a bag with my Blue Castle books in case I go to Murfreesboro with Matthew tomorrow. I still need to finish my recap and fill my portal.
And then I checked Zoom to see if my recording from the Blue Castle celebration was there.
I found one.
I got excited.
It was from something I did last year.
Sob.
So. Day Seven was not exactly a triumph of productivity, but I did get some things done, got outside, read a good book, and got some sleep.
Tomorrow I actually need to make some Etsy things, but I’m not sure I will be able to do that if I go to Tennessee.
p.s. I live part time in Xenia, Ohio and part time in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where my husband works. Dual city living sounds very glamorous when it’s in New York and California, but less so when you’re in Middle America. Nevertheless, it is kind of fun to have a house in one small town and an apartment in another.
