I keep these lists of words on the Notes app on my phone/computer. Whenever I think of or read a word that strikes me, I add it to one of the lists.

Interestingly, I refer to them more than I thought I would. Sometimes I need to come up with a good title or name for something, and I like to ponder the lists as a starting point.

After perusing them again for this post, there are only really two “negative” words on there. Loathsome and bitter. They just feel so descriptive. Like you can almost taste them on your tongue.

Anne of Green Gables cover by Anna Rifle Bond

All-time favorite word

My very favorite? It’s reverie. Take a look at the synonyms on thesaurus.com. Even the sister words are great. Daydream, contemplation, woolgathering. I feel like I’ve gone all Anne Shirley here. Or maybe Kathleen Kelly. Either way, I think it’s clear that I like words in general, and some words very much, and this particular word the most of all.

Do you have favorite words? Please share them with me if you do.
